Philosophy & Guiding Principles
Guiding Principles:
  • Birth is a natural rite of passage, not a medical emergency
  • A woman's body knows how to give birth
  • Minimal intervention results in the best outcomes for mother & baby
  • Mother & baby bonding is best established immediately after birth
  • Breast-milk is babies' natural food
  • Women who feel supported and are empowered transition more easily
    into motherhood
  • Pregnancy, birth, & motherhood are rites of passage
  • Women best prepare for birth & motherhood by turning within
  • Peace begins with birth and the mother-child bond

Philosophy:
I find great joy and satisfaction in nurturing babies, children, and mothers.
For me, supporting women through their childbearing time presents an
opportunity to change the world.

My intention when supporting pregnant and new mothers is to empower
them to co-create their experiences.  I guide them gently in educating
themselves so they feel more confident to make choices for themselves and
their families.

When supporting a woman through her childbirth preparation, my intention
is to provide them a loving and safe space in which they can explore
themselves more deeply.  I aim to go beyond the "word" knowledge into the
"heart" knowledge.  It is this that I feel women today lack in their
traditional childbirth classes and I attribute this to the less than ideal
birthing statistics in this country .

I aim to support women emotionally, spiritually, and physically to the extent
that is for the highest good of all.  I feel that when a woman is supported
and empowered she carries a bit of this into all areas of her life.  I am
humbled by the magic of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood and its power to
transform a woman.
